The 10 Best Beaches in Greece and the Greek Islands

There’s something magical about the moment you step onto a Greek beach – the way the light hits the water, the softness of the sand, the scent of salt and sun-warmed stone. Whether you’re on a Footsteps of Paul tour to Greece exploring the mainland or wandering through the islands, Greece has a way of turning simple moments into unforgettable memories. Often, on short Greek island cruises, there just isn’t enough time to truly enjoy the incredible beaches hidden throughout the islands. However, on our tours to Greece, many travelers are now extending their vacation and spending an extra two or three days relaxing on one of these breathtaking shores. It’s the perfect way to combine meaningful travel with true rest.

With its dramatic white cliffs, electric-blue water, and iconic shipwreck resting on the sand, Navagio is the kind of place you can’t quite believe is real until you see it. The best views come from the clifftop lookout, but dipping your toes into its sparkling water is an experience all its own.  Navagio is located on the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea, on the island’s northwest coast. Because the beach is enclosed by towering cliffs, the only way to reach it is by boat – usually departing from Porto Vromi, Zakynthos Town, or Agios Nikolaos.

Elafonisi – Crete

Pastel pink sand, shallow warm lagoons, and a dreamy lagoon-like shoreline make Elafonisi a paradise for anyone who loves nature, gentle waves, and long seaside walks. It feels like stepping into a watercolor painting come to life. Elafonisi sits on the southwestern tip of Crete, the largest island in Greece. You can get there by bus or car from Chania, followed by a scenic drive through mountains and small villages.
