Mariza is a licensed tour guide, archaeologist, and lecturer who has been professionally active in Greece since 1989. Growing up in Athens—one of the world’s most historically rich cities—fostered her early passion for history, storytelling, and culture. Her specialty is religious tourism. She guides visitors through sacred landmarks, churches, monasteries, and pilgrimage routes, always striving to blend historical accuracy with human connection. Fluent in English and French, she tailors each tour to the interests and backgrounds of her guests. Outside of her professional work, she is passionate about the arts—particularly theatre, music, and visual culture—and is an avid reader. Literature and the arts enrich the narratives she presents, making each tour not only informative but also deeply meaningful. Through her work, she aims to offer more than just facts—she seeks to inspire curiosity, reflection, and a lasting appreciation for cultural heritage.

Christiana Vaveki
Christiana’s career began in 1980 when she joined British Airways as ground crew. During the first five years of her career, she fulfilled her dream of traveling around the world and had the unique opportunity to participate in archaeological excavations in India and Egypt. In 1985, she transitioned to working as a freelance guide-lecturer, leading single- and multi-day tours, as well as cruises. Christiana specializes in Biblical History, Classical Archaeology, Byzantine Art, and Special Interest Groups. She is also an official guide for the Greek Army Headquarters, the Ministry of Tourism, and Fauna & Flora International. As she often says, she continues to love this job, as it gives her the chance to share the rich history and beauty of her country with others.

Panagiota Karachaliou
Panagiota is a Greek licensed tourist guide, eager to share her deep love and passion for Greek history and culture. Born and raised in ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, she believes this was the inspiration behind her decision to study History and Archaeology at the University of Ioannina, a charming town in northwest Greece. Her studies also included a fascinating focus on Egyptology. Giota has worked as an archaeologist with both the Archaeological and Byzantine Ephorates in Greece. Since 2014, she has been guiding tours as a licensed tourist guide under the Ministry of Tourism. “This is the way to share my passion for history with travelers,” she says, and she was right! Her work is not just a job but a passion—truly the essence of hospitality. In the first few years, she mainly conducted classical tours, but eventually, she discovered her true calling in Biblical tours. As a Christian herself, she found immense joy in guiding visitors to Biblical sites across Greece, realizing that this was what she had always wanted to do: share her passion for these sacred places.

Foteini Lykisa
Born and raised in Thessaloniki on September 11, 1968, Foteini always enjoyed outdoor activities like swimming, scouting, traditional dancing, and church events. Early on, she knew that becoming a tourist guide was her top career goal after high school. She graduated from the College for Tourist Guides in 1988, completing the three-year program, and has worked as a professional guide ever since. Based in Thessaloniki—the second-largest city in Greece—she leads tours throughout the country. Each winter, she takes part in courses, conferences, and lectures covering different aspects of tourism to stay current and grow professionally. She is accredited by FEG and ENAT as a certified “T-Guide,” trained to guide people with learning difficulties at heritage sites. For the past 20 years, her main focus has been Biblical tours, tracing the footsteps of Apostle Paul and exploring Greece’s Christian heritage.

Athina Trigkoni
Born in the town of Veroia in 1968, Athina has lived in Thessaloniki since her family relocated there in 1974. She graduated from high school in 1986 and immediately pursued her tourist guide degree. Upon graduating in 1988, she began her career as a professional tour guide and also completed studies in journalism. Since 1988, she has worked continuously as a guide, taking great joy in her profession. From 1994 to the present, a significant focus of her work has been leading groups of pilgrims visiting Greece, retracing the steps of Apostle Paul and engaging in Biblical studies. As an Orthodox Christian, she values the opportunity to connect with members of other Christian denominations and to learn how they experience and appreciate the Christian faith.
Over the past 36 years, she has traveled extensively with visitors from a wide range of countries and backgrounds. Each day, she looks forward to sharing her deep knowledge of Greece—and the wider world—with new guests.

Stavros Stavroulakis
Stavros has been a licensed tourist guide since 2011 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral and Social Theology, as well as a Master’s degree in Theology. His academic training provides a strong foundation for his work, especially in the field of religious tourism, where he combines historical knowledge with spiritual insight to offer meaningful experiences to travelers. He has extensive experience guiding visitors through many of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites and museums, including Athens, Thessaloniki, Philippi, Meteora, Delphi, Olympia, Crete, Patmos, and several Aegean islands. His tours are known for their engaging narrative and thoughtful interpretation of both ancient history and religious tradition. Over the years, he has collaborated with a number of well-regarded travel agencies, contributing to a wide range of organized tours and pilgrimages. In addition to his guiding work within Greece, he also serves as a tour escort for Greek groups on international trips to destinations such as Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus, and Israel, offering cultural and religious context throughout these journeys.

Niki Karvouni
Niki has been a licensed tour guide since 1995. A native of Athens, she studied Classics at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens before completing her training at the National Guides’ School in Athens. She specializes in religious tours throughout Greece, leading groups through key archaeological sites linked to the travels of Apostle Paul, including Philippi and Lydia’s Baptistry, Amphipolis, Veroia, Thessaloniki, Athens and the Areopagus, Corinth, and Cenchrae. She has guided numerous groups on Biblical expeditions and worked with organizations such as the John Maxwell Leadership Foundation, Covenant Journey Travel, Imagine Tours and Travel, AFIM, and the Museum of the Bible. She has also participated in the educational seminar “Jewish Cultural Heritage in Greece” (Mi Dor Le Dor Europe), designed for tour guides and educators.
Beyond her professional work, Niki enjoys traveling abroad and spending quality time with her family.

Nikos Simantirakis
Nikos Simantirakis studied History and Archaeology at the University of Crete. He holds two Master’s degrees: one in Classical Archaeology from the University of Crete, and another in Applied Archaeological Sciences from the University of the Aegean. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Crete, with his research focusing on “Funerary Monuments of Foreign Residents in Athens from the 6th Century B.C. to the 1st Century A.D.” As part of his academic work, Nikos has conducted in-depth research on the Jewish communities in Greece during the 1st century A.D. He has participated in a wide range of archaeological excavations in Greece, Bulgaria, and Italy. His main research interests include Biblical Archaeology and the history of early Christian communities. As a licensed tour guide, he specializes in Biblical tours across Greece, frequently guiding groups along the “Footsteps of Paul” and sharing his scholarly insights into the historical and cultural context of early Christianity.

Bulent Soysal
Bulent’s is a seasoned academic and tourism professional with over 40 years of experience in higher education and the travel industry. His love of Turkey’s history and culture have encouraged him to commit to lifelong learning and sharing his expertise with tourists worldwide. His career began in 1977 after earning a B.B.A. in Tourism from Ege University, followed by an M.B.A. in Strategic Management and Leadership in Tourism (1985) and a Ph.D. in Tourism and Hospitality Management (1990), both from Dokuz Eylul University. In 1995, he was appointed as a Professor Lecturer in economics and tourism. Always striving to learn more, Bulent completed a range of specialized courses, including teaching methods, classical archaeology, urbanism, environmental issues, and professional tour guiding. From 1977 to 2006, he held various academic and leadership roles, including chairing tourism departments at universities and vocational colleges. Since 2006, he has continued to share his expertise as a part-time lecturer and licensed professional tour guide, blending academic knowledge with real-world experience.
